NOT a Typical Week

This has been a week to remember for sure.

• Monday: Surgery for me to remove skin cancer on my thigh.


• Tuesday: A LONG nap. David taking good care of me. Kids at Grandma's. Later we moved all the furniture out of our bedroom, including draining the waterbed and taking it apart.


• Wednesday: Plumbers cut a 2-foot-wide trench down the length of our bedroom to cut out a leaking pipe and replace it. Lots of noise. Even more dust. I got a nice nap because the concrete cutters were 4 hours late showing up. Grandma is sick with bronchitis. Kids home from Grandma's in the afternoon.


• Thursday: Josh left for Youth Conference. David went to the dentist for a root canal - turns out he doesn't need it. WOO HOO! Plumbers still working, digging, cutting pipe, shoveling dirt. Jared worked like he was one of the plumbers, shoveling dirt back into the hole when they were done. Pipe finished. Hole filled in. Water draining like it should. Cement poured back into the floor.


• Friday: Hey, since we have the furniture and carpet out of the way, let's paint the bedroom! Painting was my idea but David went along without a complaint. A true testament to his love. :) David worked hard all morning. Kids "helped" a lot. I painted for a few minutes, then rested for a while, painted a little, rested a lot... After painting everyone finally got showers. Then suddenly water started pouring out of the toilet. We traced it to the seal around the bottom, cleaned up the lake of water that was in the bathroom and quickly flowing down the hallway, then we sat in the bathroom and laughed!


• Next tuesday we get our new air conditioner installed. Maybe then we can enjoy the cool air and relax a little.

Blessings:

• My surgery went amazingly well. The Dr was going to do a skin graft to help close the incision. He didn't have to do it, meaning quicker recovery and less pain for me (and a smaller scar). We went to the Dr. on Thursday for follow-up. Pathology reports usually take at least 10 days. Mine was back in 3! Everything looks good. It appears that all the bad cells were removed so we are breathing freely today.


• I have an amazing family! David has been fantastic. He has taken great care of me. The kids are concerned, loving, and helpful (most of the time). Joshua hasn't complained once about being kicked out of his bedroom until mine is returned back to normal. David's mom was so brave to take on 4 extra kids for a few days while I recovered. We are so grateful for her, Dean, and Grant for taking on the challenge. Malena came to the rescue and took the kids Wednesday afternoon then brought them home from Mesa. She does so much for us. We couldn't ask for a better sis-in-law. We are truly blessed.


• Dear people from church have brought in meals, called to check on me, and volunteered to help move furniture. Sariah babysat for a little while. My friend, Debby, did grocery shopping for us.


• David has a good job, and one that let him work from home this week while he handled the challenges that were going on here. (Some of this time was supposed to be vacation, but he certainly doesn't feel like he has had any kind of a break.)


• About 1/4 of the drain pipes in our home are new and therefore I don't have to worry about those ones.
